DSE Holds Workshop on ‘Forfeiture of Pledged Shares’

Dhaka: The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has organised a workshop titled ‘Forfeiture of Pledged Shares’ for the officials of banks and non-banking financial institutions to discuss policy on handling pledged shares. The DSE Training Academy and the Listing Affairs Department conducted the workshop using a hybrid format, accommodating both online and offline participation.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the workshop aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the policies and regulations surrounding the pledging, release, and forfeiture of securities. Major General (Retd.) Mohammad Kamruzzaman, Director of DSE, inaugurated the event, highlighting its relevance and timeliness. He stressed the importance of adhering to DSE listing regulations and CDBL by-laws, while also emphasizing the need for ethical practices in the capital market.



DSE’s Chief Operating Officer and Acting Managing Director, Mohammad Asadur Rahman, FCS, addressed the participants, stating that the DSE intends to conduct similar programmes regularly. He noted that the hybrid format facilitates greater accessibility, enabling wider participation.



Md Rabiul Islam, head and assistant general manager of the DSE Listing Affairs Department, provided insights into the legal framework concerning pledging and forfeiture. Additionally, Rakibul Islam Chowdhury, General Manager of Central Depository Bangladesh Limited, explained the DP operations related to pledged shares.
