Dhaka: Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) administrator Md Abdus Salam today called upon the Dhaka citizens to consider the capital as their own city otherwise they will not develop a sense of responsibility and affection toward it. The DSCC administrator came up with the appeal at an exchange of views with the newly elected leaders of the Greater Dhaka Journalists' Forum at Nagar Bhaban here, said a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting saw participation from various leaders of the forum, including President Nuruddin Ahmed and General Secretary Mohammad Momin Hossain. The DSCC administrator emphasized the importance of a stronger connection between the City Corporation and the citizens, with the goal of transforming Dhaka into a modern, clean, and livable city. He highlighted the role of media in this transformation, urging journalists to provide constructive suggestions and report on civic issues to facilitate prompt administrative action.
Md Abdus Salam also announced a special festival titled 'Hridoye Dhaka' to celebrate Dhaka's 416-year heritage as the capital of Subah Bangla. He expressed hopes that journalists would objectively present the current problems and future challenges faced by the city.
Greater Dhaka Journalists' Forum President Nuruddin Ahmed expressed support for the DSCC's initiatives, including the 'Hridoye Dhaka' festival. General Secretary Mohammad Momin Hossain called for cooperation in protecting journalists' rights and ensuring a conducive environment for objective journalism, while also urging transparency in DSCC's development activities.
