Drugs and Smuggled Goods Seized at Kushtia-Meherpur Borders

Kushtia: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered Indian drugs and smuggled goods worth more than Taka 38 lakh during separate anti-smuggling drives along the Kushtia and Meherpur border areas.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a statement issued by Kushtia Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Rony detailed that the operations were conducted on May 19 and May 20 based on specific intelligence information.



Patrol teams from Jamalpur, Thotarpara, Ashrayan, Udaynagar, Chalishpara, and Shewratola Border Outposts (BOPs) under the Kushtia Battalion carried out special raids across several border areas. During these operations, BGB personnel recovered a large quantity of Indian drugs and smuggled goods that were abandoned in fields, croplands, and other deserted locations.



The seized items included 57 bottles of triprolidine hydrochloride and codeine phosphate syrup, 15 bottles of monogold cough syrup, eight bottles of Indian liquor, 6,260 dexamethasone tablets, 6,080 cyproheptadine tablets, and 1,177 packets of leaf bidis. BGB officials stated that the estimated value of the recovered narcotics and illegal goods stands at Taka 38,07,535.
