Dhaka: Dr Zubaida Rahman, wife of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, arrived in Dhaka from London this morning. A flight carrying Dr Rahman landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:45 am, and she proceeded directly to Evercare Hospital, as confirmed by Atiqur Rahman Rumon, a member of the BNP media cell.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Rahman departed from London on Thursday afternoon, boarding a flight from Heathrow Airport. Her return to Dhaka is to facilitate the transport of the ailing BNP Chairperson, Begum Khaleda Zia, to London for medical treatment. However, the transfer has been postponed due to delays in the arrival of a special air ambulance provided by the Emir of Qatar.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir informed reporters that the air ambulance's arrival has been delayed due to technical issues. "If everything is okay, it may arrive here on Saturday," he stated. He expressed hope that, pending the medical board's approval and Khaleda Zia's fitness for travel, she could potentially fly to London on December 7.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital for the past 13 days. Reports suggest that her health condition has not improved, causing widespread concern across the country.
