Dhaka: President of Bangladesh Gono Forum and architect of the country's constitution, Dr. Kamal Hossain, has extended his congratulations to the newly elected president of Bangladesh, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. In his message, Dr. Kamal emphasized Mirza Fakhrul's crucial role in establishing democracy and voting rights in Bangladesh. Despite facing suppression, false cases, and imprisonment, Mirza Fakhrul actively led democratic movements for more than half a decade.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mirza Fakhrul has been instrumental in forming the National Unity Front in 2018, aimed at building a welfare-based state and establishing democracy and voting rights in the country. Dr. Kamal expressed his admiration for Mirza Fakhrul's political wisdom, boldness, and leadership qualities, which have been pivotal in keeping the BNP united even in the face of government conspiracies.
Dr. Kamal praised President-elect Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as a guardian of democratic values and ideals, noting his responsibility towards the party. He also extended his thanks to the BNP and members of the parliament for electing Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as the president.
