DPM Singh calls for concerted efforts for saving Bagmati River

Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakashman Singh called for collective efforts from all sides to keep clean and save the country’s pride, Bagmati River.

At the closing of the ‘Grand Water Expedition (Maha Jal Yatra)’, jointly organized by the Nepal River Conservation Trust and the Friends Club Kupandole in Lalitpur today, DPM Singh stressed the need to unleash sustainable solution to the effects of rapid urbanization in the Bagmati River.

“Although the Bagmati River flows smoothly during the rainy season, it is very stinky during the dry season. Efforts are being made by the government to address such problems”, he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Singh expressed happiness over the proactive engagement of various social workers and activists in keeping the Bagmati river clean and protecting the heritage.

“The Ministry of Urban Development wants to collaborate with all the organizations and activists involved in protecting the Bagmati civilization and keeping the river clean”, he said.
