Dhaka: The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has initiated a critical road and sewerage development project extending from Mirpur-10 to the Taltola area to address persistent waterlogging issues.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, DNCC Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan highlighted the significance of this project in alleviating long-standing challenges as he inaugurated the development work at a ceremony in the Mirpur-10 Falpatti area. The initiative includes the development of approximately 4 kilometers of road and the construction of modern drainage and sewerage systems on both sides.

The project aims to significantly mitigate waterlogging problems during the monsoon season. It is part of the IDRISP initiative, designed to improve the damaged road infrastructure in DNCC Region-2 and Region-4, while also enhancing the service package in Region-5.

Md Shafiqul Islam Khan expressed confidence in completing the project by October 31, barring any major natural disasters. He emphasized the importance of keeping sidewalks free from encroachment and sought the cooperation of local residents.

The inauguration event was attended by DNCC Chief Engineer Brigadier General Syed Raqibul Hasan, Project Director Khandaker Mahbub Alam, regional executive officers, executive engineers, and leaders from various political and social organizations.
