Dhaka: Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan on Tuesday inaugurated the road and drainage development project stretching from Mirpur-10 to Talatola. The project is being implemented under the IDRISP (Improvement of Damaged Road Infrastructure in Zones 2 and 4 and Service Packages in Zone 5) programme to repair and upgrade damaged roads and associated infrastructure.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the DNCC administrator, during the inauguration ceremony at Mirpur-10 Fulpatti, stated that the project covers approximately four kilometers of road along with drainage construction on both sides. He highlighted that this development would address the long-standing waterlogging issues in the area. The project is scheduled for completion by October 31, 2026, with an assurance that the timeline will be maintained barring any major natural disasters.

Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan called upon local residents to help keep footpaths and roads free from illegal encroachment and unauthorized shops once the project is finished. He stressed that the project planning aims to avoid repeated digging and prevent wastage of funds on the same road. Daily monitoring will be conducted to ensure the smooth implementation of the project.

The DNCC administrator expressed optimism that the project would alleviate waterlogging along Begum Rokeya Sarani during the rainy season and enhance commuting convenience for residents. The inauguration was also attended by DNCC Chief Engineer Brigadier General Syed Rakibul Hasan, Project Director Khandakar Mahbub Alam, relevant regional executive officers, executive engineers, and representatives from political and social organizations.
