Dhaka: Administrator of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mohammad Azaz today inaugurated the Chamurkhan Graveyard at ward number-44 of the corporation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chamurkhan Graveyard has been developed and renovated on 64 decimal of land at a cost of Taka over 3.43 crore from the own fund of the DNCC. There was no graveyard in the newly developed five zones under the DNCC since 2016, prompting the authority to take the initiative to develop the Chamurkhan Graveyard to meet the demand of the citizens.
The graveyard comprises 484 graves and is now open for the deceased Muslims. The DNCC Administration emphasized the development of 18 wards, including Uttar Khan and Dakkhin Khan area, with special allocation made to ensure civic rights for the people residing in these areas.
During the inaugural function, Mujibar Rahman, representing local residents, highlighted the need for constructing roads, culverts, and drains in the area. The function, chaired by Chief Executive Officer of the DNCC Muhammad Asaduzzaman, was also addressed by Chief Engineer Brigadier General Md Moin Uddin and Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury.
Following the inauguration, the DNCC Administrator inspected the re-digging and cleanliness drive at Senti Khal and Sutibhola Khal.
