Dhaka: Newly appointed Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan has urged all concerned parties to complete the ongoing tendered works within the specified timeframe. Any previous irregularities in the tender process will be reviewed, and all complaints will be thoroughly investigated, he stated during a meeting with the officials and employees of DNCC Zones 1, 6, 7, and 8 at Sector-6 Community Centre in Uttara today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Shafiqul Islam emphasized that illegal activities will no longer be tolerated in the city corporation. He urged everyone to work diligently to improve the city, stating, "We have to prove it with our works." The administrator also instructed officials and employees to be mindful of their responsibilities and ensure punctuality at their workplaces.
Addressing mosquito control efforts, the administrator highlighted that spraying medicine alone is insufficient. He stressed the need for effective monitoring and increased social awareness and urged mosquito control workers to perform their duties with sincerity and timeliness.
During the meeting, SM Jahangir Hossain, MP of Dhaka-18 seat, stated that serving the people should be the primary objective. He noted the lack of visible development in the newly added wards and called for urgent measures to address waterlogging in Dakshinkhan. Hossain also suggested establishing a city corporation office in Uttarkhan for the convenience of residents.
Regional officials of DNCC used the meeting as an opportunity to outline the problems and challenges they face in delivering services.
