Rangpur:DNA samples collected from Siddhartha Das and Mugdha Das have matched evidence from the scene of a quadruple murder involving a schoolteacher's family in Rangpur city.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Deputy Commissioner of the Detective Branch of Rangpur Metropolitan Police, Sanatan Chakraborty, confirmed the match. The samples were taken from the accused at Rangpur Central Jail and sent to the CID headquarters in Dhaka for testing.

The CID had collected 35 pieces of evidence from the crime scene, including a fruit-cutting knife, foil used for consuming Yaba, cigarette butts, 'naan' bread, cucumbers, dates, stains on a washbasin, and a handwritten note from the deceased child's notebook. The DNA tests revealed that the dates, cucumbers, and cigarette butts were linked to the two suspects.

The bodies of retired Rangpur Zilla School teacher Ganapati Chakraborty, his wife, daughter, and son were found in their locked house in Mashuapara on the night of August 22, 2026.
