Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has released a comprehensive traffic guideline to manage vehicle movement on Martyred Intellectuals' Day, which falls on December 14. The guideline outlines specific routes for dignitaries and provides alternative pathways for regular traffic to ensure smooth commemoration activities at the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Memorial. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the guideline specifies that the President, Chief Adviser, Chief Justice, advisory council members, foreign diplomats, and high-ranking government officials will pay their respects at the memorial between 4 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on the designated day. During this period, the DMP has advised ordinary vehicles, including buses, trucks, covered vans, cars, microbuses, and rickshaw vans, to avoid the Mirpur Mazar Road area, particularly from Mazar Road Crossing to Mirpur 1 Crossing. The traffic guideline suggests that Mirpur-bound vehicles from Ashulia via Beribadh should turn left from Nawaberbagh Crossi ng and proceed through Shah Ali Thana Road. Vehicles typically using the Mazar Road to reach Shah Ali shrine are advised to take the Darussalam Road from the Technical Intersection. Additionally, vehicles moving from Mirpur 10 to Gabtoli via Mazar Road are instructed to execute a u-turn at Tanin Gap via Nawaberbagh Crossing or Diabari Crossing and Brothers Gap. For those heading towards Dhaka from Gabtoli, the guideline directs a left turn from Brothers Gap, then use of the Diabari Embankment Crossing, Nawaberbagh Crossing, and finally Gudaraghat and Rainkhola Crossing (Zoo Road). Transports from the Darussalam Police Station area should avoid Community Center No-10 Road and instead take Golartek, Palpara Ghat, Gabtoli Embankment Road, Diabari, and Nawaberbagh Crossing. The DMP has called on city residents, vehicle owners, and drivers to adhere to the issued guidelines to facilitate the observance of Martyred Intellectuals' Day without disruptions.
