The dhaka metropolitan police: raided six illegal auto-rickshaw garages in the Rayerbazar area of the capital on Sunday night and arrested a garage owner for allegedly using stolen electricity.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the raid was conducted around 9pm in the Buddhijibi Cemetery area of Mohammadpur by the Traffic and Crime Unit of DMP's Tejgaon division. Officials from the Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC), Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO), and other agencies participated in the operation.
Police found proper electricity connections at two of the six garages, while the remaining four were using electricity through illegal connections. Efforts are ongoing to arrest a man named Rabiul, who allegedly supplied the stolen electricity to the garages and collected Tk 20,000 a month from each garage.
Twenty members of the Mohammadpur traffic zone under the Tejgaon traffic division took part in the operation. DMP officials stated that such drives against illegal garages would continue.
