Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken necessary security plan to ensure security for the Ananda Shovajatra, the main attraction of the celebration of the Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla New Year, 1432, to celebrate the event in a joyful and festive atmosphere. The DMP has also issued a guideline for the Ananda Shovajatra.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Shovajatra will start from in front of Fine Arts Department, Dhaka University and march through U-turn at Shahbagh intersection – TSC intersection-Shibbari crossing – Raman crossing – Doel Chattar – TSC intersection and end at Fine Arts Department, Dhaka University.
The DMP has requested the city residents who wish to participate in the Ananda procession to follow the specified routes. Participants coming from the Intercontinental Hotel are advised to go right from Shahbagh intersection, pass through Kantabon crossing, and join the VC Bungalow intersection via Nilkhet intersection. Individuals arriving from New Market can access the VC Bungalow intersection via Nilkhet. Those coming from Palashi should proceed right from Nilkhet intersection via Palashi to join the VC Bungalow intersection. Participants from Chankharpul and Bakshi Bazar can also reach the VC Bungalow intersection through Nilkhet.
The festival of Pohela Baishakh is a universal festival. Dhaka Metropolitan Police seeks everyone’s full cooperation to celebrate this festival in a joyful atmosphere.
