Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today announced a ban on all rallies, gatherings, and processions near the Bangladesh Secretariat, the Chief Adviser’s official residence at Jamuna, and surrounding areas. This measure is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the directive was issued through a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali. The notice states that the ban is enforced under the authority granted by Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76).
The restrictions extend to key areas in the capital, including the Hotel Inter Continental intersection, Shahbagh intersection, Kakrail intersection, and Mintoo Road. The notice emphasizes that the decision was made to maintain public order in these regions.
