DMP Holds Seminar Marking International Women’s Day

Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today organized a seminar at its headquarters in the capital to mark International Women’s Day, highlighting the importance of women’s rights, dignity, and empowerment. Like many countries around the world, Bangladesh is observing International Women’s Day this year with the theme “Today’s steps, tomorrow’s justice: protect the rights of women and girls.” The theme emphasizes the long struggle for women’s rights, dignity, and equality, and calls for building a more secure and just society.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Acting Commissioner Md. Sarwar extended greetings to women on the occasion, noting that the performance of female police members serving in DMP is being strengthened through various training programs. He explained that these initiatives aim to enable female officers to contribute more effectively in their respective roles and play an active part in advancing women’s empowerment.



Speaking at the seminar, Additional Commissioner SN Md. Nazrul Islam highlighted the complementary roles of men and women in society. He remarked, “If women did not give birth, mankind would not exist. Women are involved in every aspect of life.” The event was presided over by Joint Police Commissioner (Transport) Samsun Nahar.



Among others present at the event were Additional Police Commissioner (Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) Md. Masud Karim, Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Md. Shafiqul Islam, Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics, Finance and Procurement) Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Anisur Rahman, and Additional Police Commissioner (Estate, Development and ICT) Md. Osman Gani, along with joint police commissioners, deputy police commissioners, and other officers of different ranks.
