Dhaka: The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 989 cases against motor vehicles for violating traffic rules in a single day across the capital. A media release from the DMP stated that these cases were filed and fines were collected on Saturday, January 31, during their regular drives against traffic rule violators.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 314 motor vehicles were impounded, and 172 were wrecked due to poor driving practices, as reported by Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division of the DMP. The breakdown of cases shows that DMP’s Ramna traffic division filed 42 cases, Lalbagh registered 56, Motijheel filed 156, Wari filed 79, Tejgaon filed 60, Mirpur filed 390, Uttara filed 110, and Gulshan traffic division registered 100 cases during the day’s traffic management activities.
The media release emphasized that these enforcement drives will continue to ensure discipline on city streets. The DMP has been working to streamline the capital’s traffic system to facilitate easier movement for city dwellers.
