Dhaka: As part of the ongoing campaign to bring the traffic system under control, Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Traffic Division has filed a total of 2,490 cases against vehicles, owners, and drivers for violating traffic rules.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman stated that the DMP traffic division conducted a campaign against traffic violators during the last day and filed these cases. The DMP traffic police also dumped 318 motor vehicles and towed 172 vehicles during the campaign against traffic rule violations.
The press release noted that several teams of the DMP Traffic Division are actively working to ensure a disciplined and smooth traffic system in the capital. The campaign against traffic violators will continue to maintain discipline on Dhaka's streets.
Specific divisions within the DMP filed numerous cases: Ramna division filed 120 cases, Lalbagh division registered 130 cases, Motijheel division filed 226 cases, Wari division registered 715 cases, Tejgaon division filed 193 cases, Mirpur division filed 670 cases, Uttara division registered 234 cases, and Gulshan division filed 202 cases against motor vehicles, three-wheelers, and motorcycles.
The DMP's Traffic Division conducted these drives and filed the cases on January 19, 2026, across various areas of the capital.
