Dhaka: The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 2,260 cases against motor vehicles, owners, and drivers for violating traffic rules in a single day across the capital.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a media release from the DMP stated that these cases were filed, and fines were collected on Tuesday, September 9, during regular drives targeting traffic rule violators. The initiative is part of an ongoing effort to address traffic discipline in the city.
The release further detailed that a total of 356 motor vehicles were dumped and 51 vehicles were towed due to poor driving practices. Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division of the DMP, highlighted the importance of these drives, emphasizing their role in maintaining order on the city's roads.
"The drives will continue to ensure discipline on the city streets," the release added, noting the DMP's ongoing efforts to streamline the traffic system in the capital to facilitate easier movement for city residents.
