Dhaka: The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed a total of 1,493 cases against traffic law violators during a series of enforcement drives conducted in various areas of the capital on Wednesday. DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman shared this information through a press release issued on Thursday night.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Traffic-Ramna Division recorded 94 cases, targeting 4 buses, 1 truck, 3 covered vans, 9 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 32 motorcycles. The Traffic-Lalbagh Division filed 79 cases, including 4 buses, 8 trucks, 3 covered vans, 14 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 27 motorcycles. In the Traffic-Motijheel Division, authorities filed 73 cases, involving 6 buses, 3 trucks, 3 covered vans, 8 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 43 motorcycles.
The Traffic-Wari Division saw 240 cases filed, covering 17 buses, 36 trucks, 32 covered vans, 18 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 74 motorcycles. The Traffic-Tejgaon Division recorded 92 cases, which included 6 buses, 3 trucks, 9 covered vans, 9 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 38 motorcycles.
A substantial number of cases, totaling 439, were filed in the Traffic-Mirpur Division. These covered 28 buses, 14 trucks, 29 covered vans, 46 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 222 motorcycles. The Traffic-Uttara Division followed with 316 cases, which included 32 buses, 19 trucks, 16 covered vans, 48 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 116 motorcycles. Lastly, the Traffic-Gulshan Division filed 158 cases, involving 19 buses, 2 trucks, 2 covered vans, 9 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 52 motorcycles.
In addition to these cases, the enforcement drives resulted in the dumping of 290 vehicles and the towing of 157 vehicles. Police have stated that the Traffic Division of the DMP will continue its efforts to maintain traffic discipline within the Dhaka metropolitan area.
