DMP Commissioner Urges Public Cooperation in Crime Prevention.

Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzad Ali today urged residents to assist law enforcement in maintaining public safety and controlling crime levels. "The inhabitants of Mohammadpur had realized the impact of inactiveness of police as they did not sleep for nights after August 5 (changeover). So, help police to maintain the law and order and check crimes," he stated during a view-exchange meeting held at Suchona Community Centre in Mohammadpur. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the commissioner emphasized the primary role of the police is to ensure security, and reiterated the importance of community involvement in achieving this goal. He highlighted ongoing efforts to monitor and address the issue of extortionists operating on footpaths, promising legal action against those involved. The DMP Commissioner also addressed the problem of illegal drug trading, issuing a stern warning that individuals involved in such activities would face strict consequences. Furthermore, h e called on political parties to conduct rallies in designated areas to minimize public inconvenience, urging political leaders and citizens alike to contribute to national development. The meeting was attended by high-ranking DMP officials, alongside students, local residents, and esteemed members of the Mohammadpur community.
