DMP arrests 74 for consuming, selling drugs in city

As part of the anti-drug drives in the capital, the members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested a total of 74 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during last 24 hours ending 6am today.

According to a release issued by the DMP, police conducted the operations against the drug sellers and consumers in different areas under various police stations of the metropolis. They also detained a total of 74 drug traffickers and recovered a huge amount of drugs from their possessions from 6am of March 23 to 6 am today.

Police filed separate cases in this regard under the Narcotics Control Act.

Besides, Kotowali Police arrested a drug trader along with cannabis and phensidyl from thana area, another DMP release said.

It said the arrestee was identified as Md Faizur Rahman alias Nipu.

During the anti-drug drive, police seized 3.200 kilograms of cannabis(ganja) and 48 bottles of pehnsidyl syrup from his possessions, the release added.

A case was filed with Kotowali Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act
