Dhaka: The inaugural Divisional Inter-School Swimming Competition is slated to commence in August at eight divisional venues nationwide, engaging all divisional schools in an inclusive aquatic contest. This initiative marks a novel effort by the Bangladesh Swimming Federation (BSF) to integrate both local and English medium schools into the competitive swimming landscape.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BSF’s general secretary, Mahbubur Rahman Shaheen, announced that the federation is introducing this fresh concept to foster greater involvement in swimming. “We’ll send a letter to each school of the division requesting the participation of two boys and an equal number of girls in the competition,” Shaheen stated. He emphasized the importance of including English Medium schools to diversify the pool of talent emerging from the event.
Shaheen highlighted plans to collaborate with English Medium schools, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, and the International School Sport Federation to ensure the event’s success. Notably, the Dhaka divisional matches will take place at the Mirpur swimming complex, with each region hosting its respective competitions.
“This competition will serve as a talent hunt. Our main goal is to revitalize schools through this competition,” Shaheen concluded.
