Dhaka: Police recovered the dismembered body of an unidentified person, cut into seven pieces and wrapped in polythene, from the basement of a house in the Mugda area of the city on Sunday, though the head was missing. Acting on information, a team from Mugda Police Station conducted a drive at ‘Shahnaz Villa’, House No. 260/1 on Abdul Karim Road in Manda 1st Lane around 1:30 pm and recovered the body parts, said Md Jalal Uddin, Inspector (Investigation) of Mugda Police Station.
According to United News of Bangladesh, police could not immediately identify the victim or determine the age. The remains were later sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for an autopsy. Inspector Jalal stated that preliminary findings suggest the victim may have been killed elsewhere around six days ago, and the body was later cut into pieces, packed, and dumped in the basement.
Police are collecting and analyzing nearby CCTV footage to identify those involved, adding that legal proceedings are underway.
