Dhaka: A roundtable discussion titled 'Tourism and Sustainable Transformation: Bangladesh's Perspective' was held today at a city hotel marking the World Tourism Day.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Tourism Alliance Society organized the roundtable discussion, as mentioned in a press release. The event featured Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) Chief Executive Officer Nuzhat Yasmin as the chief guest and Bangladesh Tourism Corporation (BPC) Chairman Saima Shaheen Sultana as the special guest. The meeting was presided over by HM Hakim Ali.
The discussants highlighted the immense potential of Bangladesh's tourism sector, particularly in sustainable eco-tourism. They stressed the necessity for joint collaboration between government agencies, the private sector, and local stakeholders to harness this potential effectively.
Furthermore, the importance of preserving natural and cultural heritage was underscored as a key factor in attracting international tourists to Bangladesh. General Secretary of the organization, Rezaul Ekram, shared insights into the objectives and vision of the Tourism Alliance Society, reiterating their commitment to collaborate with all stakeholders for the development of sustainable tourism.
