Khulna: A discussion marking World Metrology Day was held today at the conference room of the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) in Khulna. The event was graced by Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Abdullah Harun, who attended as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this year’s theme for World Metrology Day is “Metrology for all times, for all people,” focusing on the importance of metrology in building trust in policymaking. Addressing the gathering, Divisional Commissioner Harun emphasized the necessity of ensuring product quality, describing the theme as both timely and significant. He underscored the critical role accurate measurement plays in various societal sectors and stressed the importance of maintaining proper quantity and quality of products from production to consumer marketing.
The commissioner also urged consumers to be vigilant in seeking quality products and encouraged businesspeople to earn consumer trust by ensuring accurate weight and measurement in their sales practices. He called on traders to conduct their businesses honestly and responsibly, highlighting the need to protect consumer rights.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Director of Khulna BSTI Md Lutfor Rahman. Notable speakers included Additional Police Commissioner Muhammad Shahnewaz Khaled, Additional Deputy Commissioner Irufa Sultana, and Khulna CAB General Secretary M Nazmul Azam David. The vote of thanks was delivered by Deputy Director (Chemistry) of BSTI ABM Raisul Alam. The event witnessed attendance from businesspersons, consumers, and representatives from various organizations, reflecting a broad engagement with the theme of the day.
