Discussion Held in Bagerhat Commemorates Martyred Intellectuals Day

Bagerhat: A discussion was held today at the Upazila Parishad hall in Chitalmari Upazila of the district marking Martyred Intellectuals’ Day. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Sajjad Hossain presided over the programme, while Upazila LGED Engineer Md Saddam Hossain moderated it.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the speakers at the event highlighted the significant events of 1971, when teachers, journalists, intellectuals, engineers, and doctors were selectively targeted and killed, aiming to render the nation devoid of its intellectual foundation. The discussion emphasized the importance of observing this day annually to honor the martyred intellectuals and to inspire the younger generation with the spirit of the Liberation War.



The meeting featured talks by several notable individuals, including Upazila Animal Resources Officer Md Ahmed Iqbal, Upazila Primary Education Officer Achyutananda Das, Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee President Md Kamruzzaman Khan Piklu, and freedom fighter Atiyar Gazi.
