Dhaka: Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of noted educationist Professor Dilara Hafiz, spouse of Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Major (retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikrom. In a condolence message, the minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister highlighted that Dilara Hafiz was a distinguished educationist and a dedicated social worker whose contributions to the education sector would be remembered with respect. He emphasized her love for people, deep commitment to education, and tireless efforts for the welfare of students, which made her a revered and admirable figure.
The minister remarked that with her death, the education community has lost a wise, caring, and responsible guardian. He described the loss as irreparable, urging that her ideals should not only be remembered but also followed.
Professor Dilara Hafiz passed away at Singapore General Hospital at 11:29am [Bangladesh time] today while undergoing treatment at the age of 78. She was the former Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education and ex-principal of Eden Mohila College.
