Disabled People Receive Assistive Devices in Rangpur to Enhance Mobility

Rangpur: Assistive devices were distributed among 18 disabled people in a function held at the Gangachara Upazila Parishad premises of the district to increase their mobility and communication capabilities this afternoon.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the assistive devices distributed included four wheelchairs, 11 hearing aids, one pair of axillary crutches, one elbow crutch, and two four-pole sticks. In addition to these devices, packets containing four types of vegetable seeds were also handed out to the beneficiaries.



The distribution event was organized by Gram Bikash Kendra (GBK), an NGO, in collaboration with the European Union and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF). This initiative is part of the ‘Pathways to Prosperity for Extremely Poor People (PPEPP) project.



Gangachara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Jasmine Akhter distributed the assistive devices among the physically challenged individuals from Gangachara Sadar and Alambiditor Unions of Gangachara upazila, serving as the chief guest at the function.



Several special guests attended the program, including Gangachara Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Md Rubel Hussaine, Upazila Cooperative Officer Mohammad Aftabuzzaman, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md Sajibul Karim, Project Coordinator Md Shamsur Rahman, and Programme Officer (Livelihood) Md Asaduzzaman.



The distribution of assistive devices aims to enhance the mobility and communication abilities of the disabled people in the upazila. Addressing the occasion, the chief guest emphasized the importance of such initiatives in helping disabled individuals become self-reliant and improving their quality of life.
