Munshiganj: Former minister Dr Dipu Moni has been granted a 12-hour parole on humanitarian grounds following the death of her husband, Tawfique Nawaz, who passed away on Tuesday night. The parole was approved by Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafi on Wednesday afternoon after an application was submitted by her lawyer, Advocate Gazi Faisal Islam.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Dipu Moni will be on parole from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on Thursday. During this period, she will be allowed to see her husband’s body and attend his funeral. Advocate Faisal mentioned that they had initially requested a four-day parole, but the authorities granted 12 hours.
Tawfique Nawaz died at a hospital in Dhaka at the age of 79. As per the family’s decision, his body will be transported to his residence at Kalabagan in the capital on Thursday morning. It is there that Dipu Moni will have the opportunity to see him for the last time.
Following this, the body will be moved to Gulshan Azad Mosque for the namaz-e-janaza, which will be held after Zohr prayers. He will then be laid to rest at Banani Graveyard.
