Dhaka: Prime Minister’s Adviser for Education Mahdi Amin announced a significant opportunity for Bangladeshi diploma engineers, who can now seek employment in Japan at no cost upon learning the Japanese language. This development was discussed during a meeting at the Technical and Madrasah Education Division of the Ministry of Education at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting focused on evaluating the progress of Japanese language training for students of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute. The initiative, spearheaded by Japan-based Town Life Company Limited, is set to provide international-standard employment opportunities to Bangladeshi diploma engineers in Japan. Mahdi Amin emphasized the strategic importance of Japan’s labor market for Bangladesh, recalling the legacy of manpower export initiated by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government is prioritizing Japanese language education to facilitate these employment opportunities. Efforts are underway to simplify procedural requirements, such as visa applications and accommodation for Japanese teachers, to streamline the training process in Bangladesh.
The initiative includes a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that ensures diploma holders in civil, electrical, and architecture disciplines will be employed in Japan via employment visas. The Japanese companies involved will cover all costs related to language courses, technical training, and the candidates’ relocation to Japan. Additionally, these companies will support the development of laboratories and the provision of necessary training equipment at Dhaka Polytechnic Institute.
Mahdi Amin further clarified that the first batch of students is nearing the completion of their language training, with secured employment in Japan. They are expected to commence work by October 2026, while the second batch is anticipated to enter Japan by January 2027. The meeting was presided over by Technical and Madrasah Education Division Secretary Md Daud Miah and attended by representatives from Town Life Japan Limited, including Tomizawa Kazunori and Branch Manager Okada Yohei, along with senior officials of the Ministry of Education and Dhaka Polytechnic Institute.
