Gazipur: Diploma engineers and students took to the railway tracks in Gazipur on Monday, disrupting train services on the Dhaka-Rajshahi and Dhaka-Mymensingh routes. The protest aimed to oppose the 33 percent employment quota for BSc engineers in the recruitment process for sub-assistant engineers, alongside pressing for a five-point demand.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the demonstrators initiated their protest at Bhurulia Mist intersection, subsequently marching through Shimultoli-Gazipur road before occupying the railway tracks at Bhurulia. This action effectively halted train operations, causing significant delays and disruptions in rail communication.

Quaiyum Ali, Officer-in-Charge of Joydebpur Railway Station Police Outpost, reported that multiple trains, including Banalata Express, Rangpur Express, Chapai Express, and Teesta Express, were left stranded at various stations as a direct consequence of the blockade.
