Dinajpur: The largest Eid jamaat (congregation) in the country is set to take place at Gor-e-Shahid Boro Eidgah Maidan in Dinajpur district at 8:30am tomorrow, marking the celebration of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. The district administration has made extensive preparations to ensure the peaceful conduct of this significant Muslim festival.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Eidgah Maidan has been adorned with vibrant colors as part of beautification efforts, creating a festive ambiance for the grand gathering. It is anticipated that approximately 3.5 to 4 lakh devotees will participate in the Eid prayers at this venue, recognized as the largest Eidgah in the country.

To ensure the safety and security of worshipers, the district administration has implemented a comprehensive four-tier security system around the Eidgah. This includes the deployment of plainclothes police personnel throughout the area. Additional security measures such as a watch tower, metal detectors, archways, and CCTV cameras have been established to monitor the event.

Parking facilities will be available at nearby locations including Station Club, Circuit House, Shishu Academy, and District Public Library. The Eidgah Maidan will feature multiple entry points from four sides and will provide ablution facilities and mobile toilets for the convenience of devotees.

To accommodate the influx of visitors, bus services from other upazilas and two special trains have been arranged to facilitate transportation to the Eidgah Maidan. The expansive Eidgah is notable for its architectural features, including two towering minarets of 60 feet each, 52 domes of 20 feet each, and a main minaret standing at 55 feet. The arch where the Khatib will deliver the sermon is 50 feet tall, and the site is constructed near the historic Shaheed Maidan cemetery. The gates of the Eidgah are 30 feet in height, adding to the grandeur of the location.
