Dhaka: State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam emphasized on Wednesday that the ‘safe, voluntary, and dignified’ repatriation of Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs) to their homeland in Rakhine State remains the only durable solution to the ongoing crisis.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the State Minister called for M©decins Sans Fronti¨res’ (MSF’s) continued support in maintaining the Rohingya issue on the international humanitarian agenda. These discussions took place during a meeting between a MSF delegation, led by International President Dr. Javid Abdelmoneim, and the State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The MSF delegation briefed the State Minister on their activities within the Rohingya camps, which include outpatient and emergency care, WASH-related services, maternal health, sexual and reproductive health, and mental health services. A significant portion of these services also benefits the host community, as noted by the Ministry.
The State Minister expressed appreciation for MSF’s medical humanitarian services provided to both the Rohingya camps and host communities in Cox’s Bazar.
