Dhaka: Bangladesh Open University (BOU) Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr ABM Obaidul Islam stated that digital production such as e-books, online courses, software, templates, and graphic design are currently playing a significant role in the education sector. He emphasized that these digital products, being entirely in digital format, allow for easy online distribution and scalability, as they can be reused countless times once created.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof Dr ABM Obaidul Islam shared these insights while speaking as the chief guest at a four-day training program on ‘Media and Digital Production Technique for Open and Distance Learning’. The training was jointly organized by the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA), India, and BOU. He expressed optimism that such workshops would pave the way for new opportunities in implementing BOU’s multifaceted education system.
The program was presided over by BOU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Sayeed Ferdous, with the presence of Treasurer Professor Dr Abul Hasnat Md Shamim, Resource Person Director of Indira Gandhi National Open University EMPC in India Dr Kumar Dharmendra Prasad, and Producer of Indira Gandhi National Open University EMPC Dr Jatinder Jit Kour. Registrar Dr Md Shafiqul Alam delivered the welcome speech.
Dr Kumar Dharmendra Prasad, Director of the EMPC at Indira Gandhi National Open University, emphasized the need to evaluate current investments and develop them into comprehensive products that will benefit society in the future. He also expressed hopes that the university’s educational services would reach students through media and digital production techniques.
The training program saw participation from 24 university teachers and 24 officials from the Media and Computer Department.
