Dhaka: The costume ‘Dhanmanab’ of Yunus Hawlader, a rickshaw puller, has attracted special attention at BNP’s Labour Day rally held in front of its central office at Nayapaltan in the city. The event, titled “Workers’ Rally”, was organised by the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal and commenced around 2pm with a recitation from the Holy Quran. People from various professions participated in the rally throughout the day.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, after the fall of fascist Hasina, leaders and activists have been seen participating in every BNP rally with great enthusiasm, and today’s workers’ rally was no exception. The leaders and activists arrived adorned in colorful caps, T-shirts, banners, and drums. However, ‘Dhanmanab’ Yunus Hawlader particularly stood out and captured attention at the workers’ rally.

Yunus Hawlader, who resides in Dumki upazila under Patuakhali district and serves as the publicity secretary of Shyamnagar Thana Sramik Dal, covered his entire body with a sheaf of paddy, the election symbol of BNP. Speaking to BSS, Hawlader expressed that he adopted the costume out of his love for BNP. He shared his long-standing involvement in BNP politics, recounting how he once had to flee Dhaka due to political pressures. Even in his village, locals did not allow him to live peacefully, forcing him to spend many nights in the paddy fields to evade arrest. To manifest his dedication to BNP, he attended the rally dressed in the paddy sheaf costume.
