Dhaka University Tops National Research Rankings

Dhaka:Dhaka University (DU) has been recognized as the leading research institution in Bangladesh, achieving the top position in the national rankings according to the latest global research evaluation released jointly by Stanford University and Netherlands-based publisher Elsevier.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the evaluation, published on October 7, 2026, highlights DU's prominent national status and includes 22 of its faculty members and researchers in the prestigious list of the world's top two percent scientists.

The Dhaka University faculty members recognized in the 2026 list are Md. Rakibul Hoque, Abdus Salam, Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Taslim Ur Rashid, Muhammad Ibrahim Shah, M. Rezaul Islam, Suborna Barua, Nepal Chandra Roy, Md. Kawser Ahmed, Saikat Mitra, M. A. B. H. Susan, Mohammad Moinul Islam, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Shaikh Md. Mahmudul Islam, Md. Abdus Salam, Khondoker Samaher Salem, Mohammad Ferdous, Mohammad Abdul Matin, Md. Abdur Razzaque, A. S. M. Maksud Kamal, Md. Abdur Rashid, and Arka Jyoti Chakraborty.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam expressed immense joy and pride over this achievement, noting that the recognition of Dhaka University as the top research institution in Bangladesh and the inclusion of its faculty among the world's top scientists reflects the quality and international impact of the university's research.

Professor Islam emphasized DU's role as a leading institution for higher education and its significant contributions to research and knowledge creation. He highlighted the high-quality studies conducted by DU researchers on important national and global issues, which have gained international acclaim. Their inclusion in the global list is seen as a testament to their excellence.

The Vice-Chancellor also mentioned that DU is undertaking various initiatives to enhance the quality and scope of research, including improving research facilities, expanding international collaborations, and supporting young researchers. He expressed a commitment to ensuring that even more DU researchers contribute to globally impactful research in the future.
