Dhaka:Dhaka University (DU) authorities have announced plans to host a 'Research and Innovation Fair' every year. This initiative aims to strengthen ties between industry and academia, fostering research, publication, and innovation activities.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the university's goal is to transform itself into a research-oriented institution, enhancing its role in fostering quality startups through reinforced industry-academia collaborations. The fair will include paper presentations, booklet and poster exhibitions, experience-sharing sessions, discussions, and interactive programs. Participants will include representatives from Dhaka University, various industrial enterprises, and educational institutions.
A preparatory meeting for the fair was held in the Vice-Chancellor's conference room, chaired by DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (academic) Prof. Dr. Abdus Salam. Prof. Salam emphasized the importance of education and innovative research that align with societal needs. He urged researchers to make significant contributions to sustainable socio-economic development through timely research, calling for coordinated efforts among teachers, researchers, and students to address social needs and generate new knowledge.
The meeting was attended by deans of various faculties, including arts, science, law, business studies, social sciences, pharmacy, and fine arts, as well as the director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
