Dhaka:The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator, Md Shafiqul Islam Khan, has pledged to deliver aesthetically pleasing footpaths to the residents of the city in the near future.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the administrator assured that roads and footpaths under the DNCC would soon be free of hawkers, providing city dwellers with visually appealing pedestrian pathways. These remarks were made during the inauguration of the Family Card programme information collection in Mirpur-13, Dhaka-15, as part of a national social safety initiative.
The Family Card programme was highlighted as a promise made in the BNP's election manifesto, described as a gift for the people from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The administrator warned against any irregularities within the party concerning the programme and emphasized fairness in the distribution of Family Cards, ensuring no discrimination.
He also stated that those engaged in service-oriented activities, such as dengue prevention, waste management, and other public service initiatives under the 'Clean Dhaka, Green Dhaka' vision, would be considered for party nominations in the upcoming city corporation elections. Conversely, those not contributing to such efforts would not receive nominations.
A total of 1,917 volunteers will be involved in gathering and safeguarding data for the Family Card programme. The administrator cautioned that serious action would be taken against any clandestine groups attempting to distribute false information or create confusion during the data collection process.
