Dhaka: Rail communication between Dhaka and North Bengal has been suspended as a bogie of the Dhaka-bound Chilahati Express train derailed on the Dhaka-Tangail rail line in the district today. The incident occurred in Salna of the district around 2:30 pm, as reported by Md Nadiruzzaman, in-charge of the Joydebpur Railway Outpost.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, four wheels of a bogie of the Dhaka-bound Chilahati Express train derailed in the Salna area of the Dhaka-Tangail railway track around 2:30 pm. This incident has halted train traffic between North Bengal and Dhaka. Upon receiving the information, concerned railway officials promptly inspected the site to assess the situation.

Joydebpur Railway Junction Station Master Abul Khair Chowdhury stated that the derailment of the bogie has obstructed the movement of trains to North Bengal via Jamuna Bridge. Higher authorities have been notified and a relief train from Dhaka is expected to arrive to recover the derailed coach. Train services with North Bengal will resume once the recovery operation is completed.
