DHAKA: The 29th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) is scheduled to commence tomorrow with an inauguration by Chief Adviser to the interim government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal. This month-long event aims to facilitate business opportunities and showcase a variety of products through enhanced facilities and technological integrations.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Commerce Adviser, Sk. Bashir Uddin, disclosed details about the fair at a press conference held at the exhibition center. The event will feature a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and Uber to provide special transport concessions. In addition, new e-ticketing apps have been launched to streamline entry processes. For the first time, stall and pavilion spaces were allocated online, marking a significant advancement in the fair's organization.
The fair will honor the sacrifices of students in the anti-discrimination movement by establishing "July Chattar" and "Chhatrish Chattar" at the venue. A Youth Pavilion is also introduced to promote youth engagement in export trade. Seminars focusing on potential sectors and products will be organized, offering a platform for knowledge exchange.
The layout includes separate zones for electronics, furniture, and a technology corner tailored for different visitor demographics. The inclusion of a children's park ensures entertainment for younger attendees. A total of 361 pavilions and stalls have been allocated to local and international businesses, with participation from companies in India, Pakistan, Turkey, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
Security measures are stringent, with law enforcement agencies, including police and RAB, ensuring the safety of visitors. CCTV cameras are installed strategically, and cleanliness is a priority, with adequate sanitary facilities provided. Quality control of food products will be enforced by daily mobile courts led by an executive magistrate.
The fair offers robust amenities, including ample parking, medical facilities, banking services, and a mother and child center. The event will be open from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm daily, extending to 10:00 pm on weekends, providing ample opportunity for visitors to explore the diverse offerings.
