Gazipur: Abahani Limited Dhaka secured a victorious start in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) by defeating Fakirerpool Young Men's Club 2-0 at Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur on Saturday. The match saw Abahani displaying strong performance, ensuring a win in their opening game. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the game witnessed a goalless first half, but midfielder Enamul Islam Gazi eventually broke the deadlock by scoring the first goal for Abahani in the 71st minute. Forward Jafar Iqbal further strengthened their lead, sealing the victory with a second goal in the 90+3rd minute. Abahani, known for their sky blue Dhanmondi outfit, will proceed to face Dhaka Wanderers Club in their next BPL match on December 7 at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla. Meanwhile, Fakirerpool Young Men's Club is set to compete against Bangladesh Police Football Club on the same day at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.
