Dhaka: The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has directed all government healthcare institutions across the country to designate separate wards or cabins for the treatment of measles and suspected measles patients. The authorities concerned at the hospitals have also been instructed to ensure admission and treatment of measles patients, according to a notification issued today by the Hospital and Clinics Wing of the DGHS.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the directive mandates adequate numbers of physicians and healthcare workers in measles isolation wards. Specialist physicians have been instructed to conduct rounds every morning and afternoon, including on holidays, to ensure comprehensive care.

The notification specifies that a maximum of one guardian or visitor will be allowed to stay with each admitted patient to minimize the risk of further infections. Furthermore, the DGHS has emphasized the importance of regular updates of all information related to measles and suspected measles patients on the MIS server.

Hospitals are instructed to use the address http://surveillance.dghs.gov.bd for submitting relevant information. For additional assistance, healthcare institutions can contact the provided number at 01759114488.

The directive applies to all medical college hospitals, specialized hospitals, district headquarters and general hospitals, and upazila health complexes nationwide. The DGHS stated that the directive aims to enhance the effectiveness and coordination of measles patient treatment management at government healthcare institutions.
