Detectives Arrest Six AL Leaders in Dhaka

Dhaka: Detectives of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested six leaders and activists of Awami League from different parts of the capital. DMP’s deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman stated that the AL activists were detained for staging frequent ‘flash marches’ in the city for the banned party, which was an attempt to create a law and order situation. The arrested individuals are set to be produced before the court, with necessary legal processes currently underway.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individuals include Shahadat Hossain, a member of the central executive committee of Awami Matsya Jibi League and sports secretary of ward No. 27 of Awami Jubo League North City unit; Khan Jahan Ali alias Kalu Patwari, a three-time chairman of Chandra Union Parishad of Chandpur Sadar; Mashiur Rahman, assistant secretary of the central committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and former vice-president of Jagannath University BCL; Kazi Faiz Ahmed, vice-president of Khalishpur thana Awami League in Khulna; Alim Al Tarif, deputy library and publication affairs secretary and employment affairs secretary of BCL Dhaka North unit; and Tipu Sultan, former joint secretary of the central executive committee of the Awami Matsya Jibi League.



A team of detectives from the Tejgaon Division arrested Shahadat Hossain in the Monipuripara area of Tejgaon thana and Khan Jahan Ali alias Kalu Patwari in the Nandipara Bridge area under Khilgaon thana. Another team from the Lalbagh Division apprehended Mashiur Rahman in the West Agargaon area, while detectives from the Cyber Division arrested Kazi Faiz Ahmed in the Bashundhara area and Tipu Sultan in the Demra thana area. Additionally, detectives from the Cyber Division arrested Alim Al Tarif in the Lalbagh area.
