Dhaka: Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Barrister Kayser Kamal has sought India's cooperation in the successful implementation of Bangladesh's e-Parliament system. He emphasized that parliamentary cooperation between Bangladesh and India could create a platform for sharing experiences and modernizing parliamentary activities.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Deputy Speaker made these remarks during a courtesy call by Dinesh Trivedi, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, at his office in the JS Bhaban. The meeting involved cordial discussions on various aspects, including bilateral relations, parliamentary diplomacy, the use of information technology, and ways to further strengthen mutual cooperation, as stated in a press release from the parliament secretariat.
Dinesh Trivedi began by praising the architectural design of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, which was designed by the renowned architect Louis I. Kahn. He also highlighted the historic and friendly relations between Bangladesh and India, noting that the two nations are bound by shared history, culture, heritage, and mutual interests.
The Indian High Commissioner stressed the importance of increasing parliamentary communication and cooperation to advance existing bilateral relations. He suggested that greater interaction between parliamentarians, regular exchanges of views, and reciprocal visits could play a significant role in strengthening these ties.
Kayser Kamal described the Indian Parliament as a modern parliament and mentioned Bangladesh's initiative to introduce an e-Parliament system. He expressed hope for India's cooperation in its implementation, noting that having an experienced parliamentarian like Dinesh Trivedi as India's High Commissioner presents an excellent opportunity.
The Deputy Speaker also expressed hope that Trivedi would play a supportive role in building a bridge between the two countries in parliamentary communication and modernizing Bangladesh's parliamentary system. He emphasized that creating avenues for parliamentary diplomatic cooperation could provide an excellent platform for exchanging experiences.
Both sides expressed optimism that Bangladesh-India bilateral relations would grow stronger by prioritizing people's welfare, expanding mutual cooperation, and strengthening mutual trust, confidence, and stability.
The meeting was attended by Secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat Barrister Md Golam Sorwar Bhuiyan, the Deputy High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, and other senior officials.
