Kalmakanda: Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal today emphasized the importance of involving children in cultural practices from an early age to protect them from drugs and other social vices. He addressed these issues while serving as the chief guest at a certificate and prize distribution ceremony hosted by Janata Cultural Academy at the Kalmakanda upazila parishad hall room.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Deputy Speaker announced plans to establish a modern Shilpakala Academy in Kalmakanda, aiming to provide a platform for cultural engagement. He advised against extravagance in event organization, proposing that funds typically spent on expensive floral bouquets could be better used to purchase musical instruments for cultural groups or to support the underprivileged.

Reflecting on his own upbringing, Barrister Kamal encouraged mothers to familiarize their children with local culture, rhymes, and poetry, fostering strong moral values. He underscored the importance of preserving indigenous traditions and cautioned against adopting detrimental foreign cultural influences.

Touching upon national principles, he highlighted that the Liberation War’s objectives were to secure economic, cultural, and democratic freedom. The event was presided over by Afroza Begum Shimu, Executive Director of Janata Cultural Academy, and was attended by local administrative and political figures, including Upazila Nirbahi Officer S.M. Mikail Islam.
