Dengue Claims Six Lives, 586 New Cases Reported Across Bangladesh

Dhaka: Health officials today reported that 586 new cases of dengue were registered, with six fatalities occurring in the past 24 hours.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) released a statement detailing the distribution of new cases. Of the 586 cases, 109 patients were hospitalized in the Barishal division, 58 in the Chattogram division, and 104 in the Dhaka division excluding the capital. Further, 103 cases were reported in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 144 in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). Additional cases include 12 in the Mymensingh division, 44 in the Rajshahi division, 10 in the Rangpur division, and two in the Sylhet division.



Since the beginning of the dengue outbreak this year, Bangladesh has recorded 145 deaths and 36,682 cases. The previous year saw 575 deaths and 101,214 infections due to dengue in the country.
