Dhaka: Health officials reported that 138 new cases of dengue have been recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases this year to over 14,000.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) stated that among the newly reported cases, 60 patients were hospitalized in the Barishal division. The remaining cases include 28 hospitalizations in the Chattogram division, 19 in the Dhaka division excluding the capital, 24 in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), one in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, and three each in Khulna and Rajshahi divisions.
Since the onset of dengue outbreaks in Bangladesh this year, the disease has resulted in 54 deaths and 14,069 cases. Despite the rising numbers, the DGHS reported that 153 patients have been discharged from various hospitals across the country following their recovery.
In comparison, last year's dengue outbreak in Bangladesh resulted in 575 deaths and affected 101,214 people.
