Dhaka: Health officials today reported that they have recorded 870 new cases of dengue, resulting in at least one death over the past 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed that the fresh cases included 102 patients hospitalized in the Barishal division, 90 in the Chattogram division, 181 in the Dhaka division, 77 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 146 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas. Additionally, the Khulna division saw 153 cases, Mymensingh division 51, Rajshahi division 57, and Rangpur division 13.
The ongoing dengue outbreak in Bangladesh has resulted in 71 deaths this year, with a total of 24,848 infections reported so far. Last year, dengue claimed 413 lives and affected 102,861 individuals in the country, while projections for 2024 suggest 575 fatalities and 101,214 infections.
