Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 423 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least two persons in the past 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during this period, 54 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 49 in Chattogram division, 38 in Dhaka division, 69 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 47 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 81 in Khulna division, 36 in Mymensingh division, 29 in Rajshahi division, 16 in Rangpur division, and four in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh has witnessed 56 deaths while the disease has infected 16,104 people so far this year. In comparison, last year the dengue outbreak claimed 413 lives and affected 102,861 people across the country. Additionally, the dengue virus claimed 575 lives and infected 101,214 people in 2024.
